What's a Fluffernutter you ask? It's a sandwich made with peanut butter and some marshmallow fluff cream, usually spread between two slices of white bread. It was quite a popular snack for children once upon a time, especially back in the East Coast and the Mid-West, and was even proposed as the Massachusetts state sandwich at one point.
I'm sure parents in this day and age are a bit horrified by the idea, but if you've never tried a Fluffernutter sandwich you're missing out on a really yummy snack. I was addicted to them as a kid. (I would add pieces of Hershey's chocolate bar to mine.)
To bring this into the adult realm of happy hour, I've taken these two flavors and translated them into a cocktail that should bring back all those fluffy, nutty memories of childhood. The melted marshmallow fluff with crushed peanut rim is the absolute perfect garnish/accent for this cocktail. It's messy, but fun.

FLUFFERNUTTER
MARTINI
Ingredients
1 Part Frangelico
1 Part Marshmallow Vodka
Garnish: 1/2 Cup Crushed Peanuts, Melted Marshmallow Fluff.
Tools: 2 Small plates, Cocktail Shaker
Glass: Cocktail, Martini or Coupe
Directions
Add the crushed peanuts to one plate and the marshmallow fluff to another. Nuke the marshmallow for about 10 seconds or so until it's liquid but not bubbling. (Be careful this is basically just hot sugar!)
Dip glass rim in fluff, then in the crushed peanuts, tap off excess and place glass in freezer to chill.
Add the ingredients to a cocktail shaker and shake until chilled.
Strain into the chilled glass and serve.
If you want to really get into the Fluffernutter experience, make up some of the Fluffernutter sandwiches to serve with the cocktail but grill them! You can cut these up into triangles and serve up with the drink. Try adding bananas to the sandwiches or, like me, add a couple of squares of chocolate bar.
