The PURPLE GHOST MARTINI

The Purple Ghost Martini is a beautiful deep purple red in color that you get from the pomegranate juice and it's a delicious raspberry pomegranate flavor with a nice little twist of tart from the sweet and sour but the best part is the Ghost Peep garnish.  There's nothing cuter than that white ghost peeping at you as you sip and you get to eat it at the end!

For a little extra ghost effect shave a few slivers of dry ice into the cocktail just before you serve it and the ghosts will come wafting up from your martini glass.  Just be careful to keep the dry ice slivers small enough they dissolve quickly, dry ice can burn if it touches the lips or skin.

The Orange Ooze Martini gets it's name from the Grenadine syrup "blood" that drips down the sides of this orange colored and flavored cocktail.  It's a triple dose of orange flavor with a scary little surprise floating on the cocktail pick of a gummy eyeball or skull.

Feel free to use any oozy little gummy candy as your garnish - bugs and spiders are a nice oozy alternative to stick on your cocktail pick as well.

The NOSE PICKER MARTINI
Halloween Cocktail #13 of 31 Monstrously Marvelous Martinis 

The Nose Picker Martini is a gross name for a pretty yummy coconut, melon and banana cocktail but it is Halloween after all and grossing people out is all part of the fun!
 
I have always garnished it with some gross gummy finger puppets but if you can't find those I understand there is now gummy candy in a road kill theme! (Thank you, Laura!) Just about any icky type of garnish will do - you can even mold chocolate into fingers and use that as a garnish.  Just have some grade school level fun with it all!

NAKED SKULL MARTINI - Halloween Martini #12


The NAKED SKULL MARTINI
Halloween Cocktail

 The Naked Skull Martini is an orange flavored martini that has a deep purple color thanks to the Blue Curacao and the black vodka*.  Perfect coloring for any Halloween color theme, it also has a skull garnish!

On a side note, after I named this the "Naked" Skull Martini I got to wondering what and "un-naked" skull would look like.  Now every time I write about or serve this cocktail I laugh because in my head I see a skull with a toupee.

 *If you cannot get Blavod black vodka where you live use a clear, plain vodka and simply add a few drops of black food coloring to your cocktail!

FALL MARTINIS - Fall Fruits to Grace Your Martini Glass!


THE BOUNTY OF FALL FRUIT COCKTAILS

  Fall is my favorite time of year.  Not only has the heat subsided but the leaves are falling, the air is crisp and the Fall fruits are showing up at local farmers markets, orchards and grocers.  There is nothing that says Fall more than grabbing a fruit basket and hand picking your own fruit from an orchard nearby, it's a great family outing and it's kind of sexy for a date too!


Among the fruits that bring their goodness to Fall Happy Hour are apples, pears, pomegranates, grapes and pumpkins, and everyone of these is great used fresh in a cocktail as a juice or garnish.  Since so many cocktails employ fruits and juice mixers you can bring a healthier element to your martini by using freshly squeezed juices and adding fresh fruit garnishes!

Here are my favorite FALL COCKTAILS, check back often because each time the leaves start to fall I'm back at the bar mixing up some new recipes!

MONSTER MASH MARTINI - Halloween Cocktail #11

The MONSTER MASH MARTINI
is Halloween Cocktail #11 of 31 Monstrously Marvelous Martinis 

The Monster Mash Martini is a fun, green colored melon and pineapple martini that you garnish with monster gummy candies.  This is my ode to my favorite Halloween song of all time, "The Monster Mash" by Bobby "Boris" Pickett & The Cryptkickers.

The "Monster Mash" came out in 1962, right at the height of my Trick or Treating phase and during the era of the Mashed Potato dance craze.  It was so popular that over the following years it was also performed or recorded by famous monster actors Boris Karloff (from 1965) and Vincent Price (in 1977) .  Even the Beach Boys came out with a version (in 1964) and Ron Howard (Richie Cunningham) sang it on Happy Days (1978).

JACK O'LANTERN MARTINI - Halloween Martini #10

The Jack O'Lantern Martini is one of my most popular Halloween martinis. It's inspired by an Orange Julius which makes it creamy, sweet and tart at the same time.  The lovely pale orange color is perfect for Halloween and the Pumpkin Peep garnish is cute floating on top.

You can easily turn this one into a non-alcoholic Halloween cocktail simply by removing the liquor! Be sure you serve the alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks in a different colored glass to distinguish them - maybe martini glasses for the adults and regular Halloween tumblers for the kids?
