WATERMELON ROSEMARY GIN SOUR

http://themartinidiva.com

With the availability of produce from all over the world it's easy to indulge in a summer cocktail even in the dead of winter.  Believe it or not it's been in the high 70's here for the last week and right about cocktail time is the warmest part of the day so I was craving something cool and refreshing.

This Watermelon Rosemary Gin Sour is truly more of a summer cocktail, but thanks to the global fruit availability I happened to have one of those nice little "personal" watermelons to bring to the cocktail shaker.  A little lime, a splash of sparkling water and some honey and I was chilling on my deck with the sun setting on a warm Arizona winter day.

I bowed to winter with the addition of the rosemary, it is after all January!!

WATERMELON ROSEMARY GIN SOUR

1/2 C. Watermelon, Pureed
2 Tablespoons Honey, Warmed
Juice of 1/2 a Lime
Splash Sparkling Water
Rosemary Sprig + Few Leaves
Slice of Watermelon
Slice of Lime
Ice

Cocktail Shaker
Muddler
Martini Glass

Chill your glass in the freezer. Warm the honey for a few seconds in the microwave. Muddle a few leaves of rosemary with the lime and honey in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add ice to the shaker, pour in the gin and stir. Add the watermelon puree then top off with the splash of sparkling water. Give it all a gentle stir, strain into your chilled glass and garnish with the rosemary, lime and slice of watermelon.
