YELLOW CAKE MARTINI - Cake Martini Classic

The YELLOW CAKE MARTINI

It's hard to tell from the ingredients but this martini really does taste like a classic yellow cake. It's very sweet and the vanilla tones really bring home the experience. This one goes down way too easy so watch yourself!

I had to add the fun cake decorating sprinkles - I like my cakes decorated! It also puts a touch of celebration to this Yellow Cake Martini experience, making it perfect for birthday party.

Enjoy and Happy Whatever!

PUMPKIN PIE MARTINI - Pumpkin Cocktail

Pumpkin pie martini cocktail recipe

This cocktail will surprise you, it did me. I wanted to create a drink with the classic flavors of the holidays and the one thing I looked forward to most at the holidays was my Mom's pumpkin pie. I waited all year for that pumpkin pie. Thankfully, pumpkin was a holiday food flavor I could work with.

My real miracle came when Hiram Walker came out with their Pumpkin Spice Liqueur way back in 2007. Though the liqueur by itself smells and tastes a bit like butterscotch, when mixed with the right balance of other ingredients I wound up with almost a perfect liquid version of my Mom's pumpkin pie.

Later, when Hiram Walker's Pumpkin Spice became harder to find, I would venture into making my own Pumpkin Liqueur.

People are a bit leery of the idea when I offer them one but the minute they take the first sip they are converted to Pumpkin Pie Martini fans. If you love pumpkin pie, you'll love this martini too.

Pumpkin pie martini cocktail recipe with ingredients and instructions

The Original
PUMPKIN PIE

(or Homemade Pumpkin Liqueur)
1 Oz. Bailey's Irish Cream Liqueur
(or Homemade Irish Cream Liqueur)

DIRECTIONS
Blend 2 tablespoons of sugar with 2 teaspoons of Pumpkin Pie Spice. Dip the rim of the glass in some of the pumpkin liqueur then into the sugar mixture then chill glass in the freezer.
Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously until blended and chilled.
Pour into the chilled glass, top off with the whipped cream then add an extra dusting of more pumpkin pie spice if you like and serve.

PEACH PIE MARTINI Cocktail Recipe

PEACH PIE MARTINI Cocktail Recipe

Have your dessert first, make this Peach Pie Martini for happy hour. The essence of a slice of peach pie lies in the peach vodka, peach juice and the sweet pie crust garnish. A little vanilla vodka and some half & half and you have peach pie in a glass.

Maybe this cocktail should have been called the Peach Pie Ala Mode Martini because the half & half brings in the creamy element that ice cream would bring to a piece of peach pie, but that was getting a bit cumbersome for a drink name. Don't like pie ala mode? Leave out the half & half.

PEACH PIE MARTINI Recipe with Ingredients & Instructions

The
PEACH PIE
MARTINI

INGREDIENTS
1-1/2 Oz. Peach Vodka
1-1/2 Oz. Vanilla Vodka
1-1/2 Oz. Fresh Peach Juice
1 Oz. Half & Half

Garnish: Fresh Peach Slices, Piece of Cinnamon Sugared Pie Crust

DIRECTIONS
Chill glass in the freezer.
Add the ingredients to an ice filled cocktail shaker and shake until well chilled.
Strain into the chilled glass, garnish and serve.

VOICEOVER VIDEO WITH INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS:

SUBSTITUTION SUGGESTION:
If you can't find peach vodka you can use 1 ounce of plain vodka and 1/2 ounce of a peach schnapps OR . . . you can infuse your own peach vodka by reading my post How to Make Your Own Flavored Vodkas.

LEMON MERINGUE PIE MARTINI - Lemoncello Martini

Get my
The LEMON MERINGUE PIE MARTINI Recipe

This Lemon Martini uses Limoncello - like the Lemon Cream Pie Martini - but it's a meringue pie martini so there are egg whites* in it to give the martini that lovely fluffy meringue like texture. I swear this tastes just like a lemon meringue pie, right down to the perfect sweet-tart tanginess.

If you miss the pie crust just bake one of those ready-mades up, crush it up with some sugar and rim the glass with that! If you don't like the frothiness that a blender gives just shake the ingredients up in a martini shaker for a smoother experience!

I love chocolate and lemon together so sometimes I rim the glass in finely shaved dark chocolate. It tastes like my Choco-Lemon Pie.

BLUEBERRY PIE MARTINI - Pie Martinis

Get The Recipe for the
BLUEBERRY PIE MARTINI HERE

Like blueberries? You're going to love this martini then - it's ripe with fresh blueberry juice and gets a little kick from blueberry and vanilla vodka and a little raspberry liqueur. When I bake a blueberry pie I always use a little lemon juice to brighten up the flavors and the sweet and sour bring that element to play. A little bit of cream makes it pie a la mode!

The pie crust rim ties it all together and gives you a true blueberry pie experience in a martini glass! And don't forget all those anti-oxidants from the fresh blueberry juice!

CARAMEL APPLE PIE MARTINI - Pie Martinis

After creating cocktail recipes for over 10 years, things got a little messy over here so I moved my recipe for the
CARAMEL APPLE PIE MARTINI

Apple Martinis are the Mac Daddies of designer martinis - one of the first on the scene of the modern martini as a cocktail. There are a bushel of different recipes for them out there - including several of mine which you can find listed below.

The one thing that makes this apple martini a bit different is the combination of Amaretto and Butterscotch Schnapps which bring the baked goods flavor to this apple cocktail - a little vanilla vodka added to the apple pucker bring in the lovely Granny Smith pie filling and a rimming mixture of real pie crust mixed with cinnamon and sugar complete the pie martin!

If you love apple martinis you have to try this one - remember, an apple martini a day keeps the blues away!

KEY LIME PIE MARTINI

This Key Lime Pie Martini is my own original recipe for one of the most popular designer martinis. I love Key Lime Pie and this is like having a piece served up in a martini glass with the added kick of a little alcohol.

THE KEY LIME PIE MARTINI RECIPE

I originally did this recipe with real key limes, squeezing great bunches of the special little limes. Wonderful taste but way too much work! So I experimented and discovered that using frozen limeade (do not add water!) worked almost as well with a lot less work!

Go ahead and buy a couple of real key limes to use as your garnish if you insist. If you decide to use the key limes instead of limeade you must add more sugar! If you don't have or like rum use vanilla vodka.

To get really creative crush up some baked pie shells, mix it with sugar to rim your glass instead of just the sugar. This drink can also be made without the cream for a refreshing Lime Martini.

SUGAR COOKIE MARTINI Cocktail Recipe

This Sugar Cookie Martini is a creamy cocktail with the same simple concept as a classic sugar cookie with a crunchy rim that comes from real crushed sugar cookies.

SUGAR COOKIE COCKTAIL with Ingredients and Instructions

The
SUGAR COOKIE
MARTINI

INGREDIENTS:
2 Oz. White Chocolate Liqueur
1 Oz. Irish Cream Liqueur
1/2 Oz. Butterscotch Schnapps
1/2 Oz. Half & Half
Dash of Vanilla Bitters

Garnish: Crushed Sugar Cookie Rim

Tools: Cocktail Shaker

Glass: Old Fashioned

DIRECTIONS:
Dip glass in some of the butterscotch liqueur then dip in crushed sugar cookie crumbs and chill in freezer.
Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake until chilled.
Pour into the chilled glass and serve.

VOICEOVER VIDEO WITH INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS:

HISTORY OF THE SUGAR COOKIE
Today's version of the sugar cookie most likely is descended from a cookie like pastry from Europe in the Middle Ages called a Jumble (or jumbals, crybabies, plunkets and gemmels).  Jumbles were made from flour, eggs, nuts and sugar with a little flavoring like vanilla, or anise and were shaped into knots or rings. These were dense, somewhat dry and compact treats that traveled well as they could last for up to a year.

A very common sweet throughout Europe since the Middle Ages, they probably came over to America with the earliest pilgrims. Around the mid 1700s settlers in the German Protestant area of Nazareth in Pennsylvania created a recipe called the Nazareth Sugar Cookie which incorporated eggs and leavening agents and were rolled out and cut into shapes. This is probably the closet relative to what we think of as sugar cookies today.

National Sugar Cookie Day is July 9th.

VANILLA WAFER COOKIE MARTINI - Cookie Martinis

THE VANILLA WAFER COOKIE MARTINI

I'm sure we all remember vanilla wafers from childhood - those crisp little brown cookies with a big vanilla taste. Even as a kid you could eat them in one bite. My biggest memory of them was having them in banana pudding and banana cream pie. In my house we called them "nilla" wafers which just happens to be the trademark name of Nabisco's brand.

Vanilla wafers are a big part of pop culture having been around since forever - or at least since my forever, lol - I can't remember a time we didn't have a box of them in our cupboard. I'm not a big lover of store bought cookies but vanilla wafers are in the top three I will eat, along with Oreos and Animal Crackers and I still enjoy them with a simple glass of milk.

The Vanilla Wafer Martini is as simple as those ageless golden cookies - just equal parts of Amaretto and vanilla vodka with a rim of real crushed vanilla wafers to give you that cookie crunch. I sometimes garnish it with a full Vanilla Bean Pod but I recently discovered Pepperidge Farm Vanilla Pirouette Cookies on Amazon and those are a fully edible garnish alternative that not only taste good but work as a straw!

The S'MORES SHOOTER for National S'mores Day

PLEASE SIR, I'D LIKE S'MORE!

You know the old saying "Forget Love, I'd Rather Fall In Chocolate"? Well, the S'Mores Shooter (or S'Mores Shot) is what I'd like to fall into. It has all the classic flavors of the campfire treat - chocolate, marshmallow and a graham cracker rim garnish.

For a real campfire experience:
Get some votive candles and bamboo skewers and have your guests toast their own marshmallows over the flames for s'mores to go with the shots. But make sure you keep the flames and the booze far apart for safety's sake.

*Why are they called S'mores? Because after you eat one you want some more, of course.

S'MORES SHOOTER Cocktail Shot Recipe & Directions

THE
S'MORES SHOOTER

Ingredients
1 Oz. Marshmallow Vodka
(I used Pinnacle's)
1 Oz. Chocolate Liqueur
(I used Godiva)
1 Dash of Coffee Bitters
(Scrappy's)

Garnish:
Rim glass in chocolate syrup then dip in crushed graham crackers.
One Marshmallow

Directions
Pour in the Marshmallow Vodka.
Pour in the Chocolate Liqueur
Add the bitters, shake and strain into the chilled glass.
Garnish and serve.

JIMMY BUFFETT MARTINI - Parrotheads Rejoice!

ODE TO JIMMY BUFFETT MARTINI

MORE PINA COLADA RECIPES HERE

I admit it, I am a Parrothead - I love Jimmy Buffett music. It's perfect tropical party music and needs a tropical party martini. A blue martini to match the beautiful tropical ocean and sky.

The Jimmy Buffett martini is a luscious concoction of passion fruit vodka, coconut rum, pineapple juice and papaya garnish that gets its Caribbean blue color from Blue Curacao. Blue Curacao just happens to be a citrus flavored liqueur from the island of Curacao in the Caribbean! Can't get more island than that!

It should go great with that Cheeseburger in Paradise!

TROPICAL WATERMELON MARTINI

Here's a martini that is unique and refreshing for cooling that summer heat - it uses both watermelon vodka and passion fruit vodka for a truly unusual and tropical taste. Try it out with some fresh watermelon juice or even passion fruit juice in place of the orange juice for a slightly different flavor. I cut up a watermelon this morning and the amount of juice in the bottom of the bowl was just enough for one martini.

Pineapple Orange Colada Martini - TROPICAL MARTINI #4

THE PINEAPPLE ORANGE COLADA MARTINI

This martini gives an orange twist to a Pina Colada with citrus vodka and a little fresh orange juice. I've often made smoothies with pineapple, coconut and orange so this is basically a spirited tropical smoothie which means you can leave out the vodka for a non-alcoholic martini!

The Pina Colada is the official drink of Puerto Rico - the home of fabulous rums - so I feel a little guilty not having any rum in it but I didn't happen to have any on hand when I shook this martini up. If you want you can use a rum instead and it will impart a slightly sweeter taste as rums are made with the by-products of sugarcane such as molasses.

If this doesn't put the Vitamin C in your cocktail nothing will - serve it up with some of my Taste of the Islands Nachos and pretend you're enjoying the late evening breeze of a tropical wind.

TROPICAL MARTINIS - The Caribbean Martini

CARIBBEAN MARTINI

Our tropical vacation week finds us still in the Caribbean with a slightly altered version of a Pina Colada. This one has rum and vodka but no coconut cream. The coconut flavor is supplied by the coconut rum.

If this doesn't remind you of white sandy beaches, gentle waves lapping at your toes and the sun warming your body as a breeze rustles your hair then it's time you took a real trip to the Caribbean.
