Banana Cheesecake Pudding Martini Recipe

RECIPE FOR MY
BANANA CHEESECAKE PUDDING MARTINI

Ingredients
1 Package of Sugar Free Jell-O Cheesecake Pudding Mix
2 Cups of 1% or Fat Free Milk
2 Bananas
1 Cup of Vanilla Wafers
1 Cup of Animal Crackers
1/2 Cup Crushed Pecans (or Walnuts)
1/3 Cup Melted Butter

Equipment
2 Large Mixing Bowls
Blender
1 Pie Pan or Baking Dish
Electric Mixer
2 Large Martini Glasses

Crush the vanilla wafers, animal crackers and nuts in a blender to a fine consistency.  Mix these together with the melted butter in a bowl then press tightly into an even layer in the pie pan or baking dish.  Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes or until golden brown at the edges. Allow to cool.

Prepare the pudding mix per the package instructions and place in the refrigerator to set.

Once your pudding is set and your "crust" has cooled, grab out your martini glasses and slice in 1/2 of the banana into the bottom of the glass, then layer in some of the pudding, then crumble in some of the cookie crust, then repeat.  Save a few banana slices for the top.  Add your whipped cream, sprinkle on a bit more of the crushed cookie crust for garnish and top off with the remaining few slices of bananas.

Makes 2 generous Banana Cheesecake Pudding Martinis!

Try this as a Tropical Pudding Martini by substituting 1 cup of the milk with 1/2 a cup of coconut milk and 1/2 a cup of pineapple juice and add some toasted coconut to the cookie layers!  There's a ton of different combinations you can use;  think Black Forest with chocolate pudding and cherry pie filling or Chocolate lemon with lemon pie filling and chocolate cake - the possibilities are endless!

Happy National Peanut Butter Day - Peanut Butter Martini

http://themartinidiva.com

January 24th is
NATIONAL PEANUT BUTTER DAY
If you can't control your peanut butter, you can't expect to control your life. ~ Bill Watterson

Despite the name, peanuts are not nuts, they are legumes and come from the same family as beans. Yup, I guess I just made a bean martini.

Honestly, this isn't a recipe as much as it is a way to enjoy a very special liqueur called Castries Peanut Rum Creme. This special liqueur is just like sipping creamy, liquid peanuts! All I did here was add just a pinch of salt.

THE
PEANUT BUTTER

MARTINI

INGREDIENTS
3 Oz. Castries Peanut Rum Crème Liqueur
Pinch of Sea Salt
Ice

Garnish:  Peanut Butter, Crushed Peanuts

Tools: Cocktail Shaker

Glass: Coupe or Martini (Cocktail)

DIRECTIONS
Pipe a small line of peanut butter on the edge of the glass rim then dip in the crushed peanuts. Chill glass in the freezer.
Shake ingredients in a cocktail shaker until chilled.
Pour into the chilled, rimmed glass and serve.

Who Invented Peanut Butter?
In 1884 to Marcellus Gilmore Edson of Montreal, Quebec, Canada patented a process of milling roasted peanuts between heated surfaces until the peanuts entered "a fluid or semi-fluid state", and in 1903 Dr. Ambrose Straub of St. Louis patented a peanut butter-making machine. But peanut butter or peanut pastes had been around hundreds of years prior to both of these inventions.

The ancient Incas used peanuts and were known to have made it into a paste-like substance centuries ago, though this was not the creamy substance we're familiar with today as it did not include the oils or sugars that are added in modern peanut butters.

Some Health Benefits of Peanut Butter
  • Peanut butter contains resveratrol; this agent has anti-microbial properties that help the body to effectively deal with bacteria and various types of fungi
  • Peanut Butter is high in fiber, protein and micronutrients
  • Peanut Butter is an excellent source of iron, magnesium, potassium, copper and calcium.
  • Though Peanut Butter is high in fat it is monounsaturated, which has been shown to improve the cholesterol profile by lowering "bad" LDL cholesterol.
  • In a 20 year study on 80,000 female subjects by the Nurses' Health Study, it was observed that women who eat least 1 ounce of nuts, peanuts or peanut butter each week have a 25% lower risk of developing gallstones
  • According to the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry, the niacin contained in peanuts, when eaten regularly, provides protection against Alzheimer's disease.

How about a Peach Melba Martini for National Peach Melba Day?

http://themartinidiva.com

National Peach Melba Day is January 13th.
Here at MartiniDiva.Com we celebrate with

Peach Melba is a classic dessert dish that consists of vanilla ice cream, topped with a peach half, drenched in raspberry puree and garnished with slivered almonds. The very first Peach Melba was created in 1892 by famed chef Auguste Escoffier as a special dessert for a dinner party given by the Duke of Orléans. The party was in honor of Nellie Melba, the Australian soprano who was being lauded for her performance in Wagner's Lohengrin at Covent Garden.

Since a swan was featured in the opera, Escoffier displayed the desert by having the Peach Melba being cradled in a swan ice sculpture. This original Peach Melba did not have the raspberry puree, being garnished instead by spun sugar. The raspberries made their appearance in 1900 when Escoffier again presented the Peach Melba for the opening of the Carlton Hotel, this time with the raspberry puree and slivered almonds.

Interestingly, Ms. Melba, like most divas of the day was afraid of eating ice cream for fear the extreme cold would damage her vocal chords. However, since the dessert also had a peach at room temperature, this supposedly warmed the ice cream enough for it not to be harmful and the dessert was enjoyed by all the guests, Nellie included.

Happy National Whipped Cream Day - The Whipped Cream Martini

WHIPPED CREAM MARTINI Cocktail Recipe

Celebrate National Whipped Cream Day with this Whipped Cream Martini, a cocktail that features whipped cream flavored vodka.

I've used both Pinnacle's Whipped Cream Vodka and Smirnoff's Whipped Cream Vodka and both will work in this cocktail.

I've seen rumblings lately from Beam Suntory that they will be discontinuing some of their Pinnacle flavored vodkas and hope the Whipped Cream is not among them. As mentioned in my review of Pinnacle's Whipped Cream, this is a surprisingly good flavored vodka which tastes like actual whipped cream. It's a richer, creamy alternative to vanilla vodka and I keep it on hand expressly for this reason. It made my job pretty easy when creating this cocktail, though I did add a tiny splash of white chocolate liqueur for a slightly deeper flavor profile and a dash of salt to balance the sweetness.

WHIPPED CREAM MARTINI with Ingredients & Instructions
