VALENTINE'S DAY MARTINIS until February 14th!

Valentine's Day is in two weeks and I'm posting special Valentine's Day Martinis for the next 2 weeks. There should be something here for every relationship, a martini for lovers of all types, even those with a broken heart!

Today's Valentine Martini is Cupid's Chocolate Strawberry Martini, a wonderful blend of chocolate and strawberries that will capture the heart of your intended. It's a tasty blend of strawberry infused vodka, chocolate liqueur and fresh strawberries and you garnish it with a real chocolate covered strawberry (recipe below).

And stop by The Diva of Tiny Foods for great Valentine's Day food recipes, from today to Feb. 14th, including appetizers, soup, entree, side dish and 4 desserts!

CHOCOLATE DIPPED STRAWBERRY RECIPE:

Ingredients:
1 Bag of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
20 Large Strawberries, cleaned with stems on,

Directions: After washing your strawberries make sure they are dry. Cover a flat surface in parchment or wax paper. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler until nice and creamy. Remove from the heat. Grab the strawberries by the stem and dip almost up to the stem in the chocolate. Place the strawberry on the paper covered flat surface and continue until all the strawberries or chocolate is gone. (If you have chocolate left over toss in some nuts, marshmallows or pretzels and spoon the mixture onto your paper too - never waste chocolate!) Cool in the fridge until the chocolate has hardened. Once the chocolate is hardened you can also melt some white chocolate, spoon this into a plastic baggie, cut a tiny hole in one bottom corner and drizzle over the dark chocolate covered strawberries for a nice little flair!

A MARTINI FOR POLITICS, POLITICIANS & POLITICAL PUNDITS

The Politicians Incorrect Martini. I couldn't stop myself, I had to do it, I was overcome by a fount of filibustering fiddle-dee-dee after watching the inauguration and all that speechify-ing!

Yes, it's a joke! But how much of a joke I'm not sure. What do you think??

An Orange Pomegranate Martini for a New Fiction Blog!

A friend of mine, Elizabeth, who happens to be a writer of these really cool 'micro stories' and books, loves Pomegranate Martinis and we have been experimenting with different versions lately. This one we will be enjoying tonight in celebration.

Elizabeth just recently put up her first writing blog - Elizabeth Bradley's Bits & Bytes - and so I developed this martini for her new blog (yes, E, just to congratulate you!)

But even if you are not a writer you can enjoy this martini and stop by Elizabeth's Blog for some great short stories - you can enjoy fiction and martinis at the same time!

If you have a Martini question, please feel free to ask me in a comment and I'll respond back here in the comments section or in a new post!

BELLINI-A-TINI - Champagne, Peaches and Berries Rock!

The classic Bellini is actually made with Champagne and Peach and Raspberry Purees - 1 part Peach Puree, 3 parts Champagne (or sparkling wine) and about a teaspoon of Raspberry Puree - and it is quite delicious but a lot of work! Most bellinis today are made with the sparkling wine, peach schnapps and a splash of raspberry liquor like Chambord.

My recipe for The Bellini-a-tini is much easier to create and almost as good - maybe better if you don't like the texture of purees! Instead of the raspberry puree I use fresh raspberries as a garnish, sometimes I will float a little Chambord or Cassis on top.

I often use fresh fruits and berries as garnishes but I kick them up a bit by dipping them in some juice I have handy then rolling them in sugar and freezing them! I keep them frozen in a baggie and pull them out as necessary. The frozen fruit is a wonderful little pop at the end of the drink and it helps keep your martini cold!
