Raspberry Thyme Martini - Herb Infused Martinis

http://themartinidiva.com

This Raspberry Thyme Martini is really quite good and I'm not even that fond of thyme. The key to the whole thing is just a bit of thyme because of the earthiness of this particular herb. The acid from the lime juice, the sugar and the fresh raspberries blend really well with that earthiness and make for a very refreshing Spring or Summer cocktail that incorporates a fresh herb from the garden.

It's a really pretty martini too and one that will intrigue your most sophisticated tipple.

LEMON BASIL MARTINI - Herb based Martini with a twist!

I planted some lemon basil in my herb garden recently, an herb I love using for cooking chicken and fish especially. When I was chopping it the wonderful lemon aroma wafted up to my nose and I suddenly thought what a nice herb martini it might make. I was right!

These Lemon Basil Martinis are delicious and they're a great starter for a nice entree that also features Lemon Basil. I know many of you are thinking, "basil martinis?" but this is lemon basil, a much less aggressive herb than the more common sweet basil, the foremost flavor note is lemon!

Try one, I think you'll like it! If not you can use the martini as a marinade for the chicken or fish!

MARTINI SMOOTHIES - Blueberry, Raspberry, Banana

The Blueberry Smoothie-tini - Let's just call this the anti-oxidant martini smoothie!
Rich in healthy flavors of blueberries, raspberries and bananas this is a health nut boozer's dream, lol. If there is such a thing as a health nut boozer - is there?

To really make it healthier substitute plain yogurt for the cream and use honey instead of sugar - you'll never know the vodka's in there unless you have one too many! But you're not going to do that because you're healthy, right!

Enjoy and Cheers to having a great weekend!

VODKAS AID IN CURE FOR BREAST CANCER

I'm doing a bonus post today to tell you about two vodkas out there on the market. Why am I doing what is basically a commercial for vodka?

Because these two vodkas are very special - and I'm not talking about their taste, I'm talking about their commitment to women everywhere.

Both Stiletto Vodka and Support Her Vodka are joining women everywhere in the fight to end BREAST CANCER.

These two vodka companies are pledging part of their profits from their products to the fight for breast cancer. I have lost several friends to this disease and have worried about several others so this is a cause near and dear to my heart. To see companies take up the banner is a thrill - especially when those companies produce a product I use and promote on a daily basis!

So, Three Cheers to Stiletto Vodka and Support Her Vodka - I tip my martini glass to you both for your gracious donations and caring hearts!

Now, every time I drink a martini I can contribute to the cure for breast cancer!

So, my dear fellow Martini Divas and Martini Dudes, the next time you are in the market for some vodka to shake up in one of my martini recipes, please support these two companies, buy their products and HELP US FIND A CURE!!!!

MARTINI SMOOTHIES - Pineapple, Mango, Coconut, Banana & BOOZE!

OMG, this is so good! After my first Martini Smoothie (The Nana-Berry-Coco-Tini) I've been trying out more and this one rocks! I used equal parts of Malibu Rum flavors - Coconut, Pineapple and Mango, tossed in a little concentrated frozen limeade, added my frozen banana, some powdered sugar and some yogurt and tossed it all in a blender and sucked it down so fast I had to do it all over again (poor me, lol!)

These Martini Smoothies are perfect for summer and they're so good for you with all the fresh fruit - and if you use yogurt instead of the heavy cream , even better! And remember you can leave out the booze - but you have to get that flavor profile in so with this one add some coconut milk, half a fresh mango and some fresh or canned pineapple instead of the rums.

Enjoy and Cheers!

MARTINI SMOOTHIES - Strawberries Bananas Coconut BOOZE!

Get the full sized recipe card for the
NANA BERRY COCO TINI HERE

I had some strawberries and a banana that were a bit too ripe to eat but still full of flavor and sweetness. I often freeze fruit at this stage for use later but I happened to spy my coconut rum in the fridge and decided to make a Martini Smoothie. It was hot and a smoothie sounded great - and you know me and my martinis!

So this week is Martini Smoothie week here at the Martini Diva - if you want a non-alcoholic smoothie just don't add the booze!

It's so simple and quick - just toss your fruits, a little cream or yogurt, some sugar and the coconut rum into a blender and give them all a whirl! If you're creating a non-alcoholic martini simply replace the coconut rum with coconut milk and drop the amount of cream a bit.

Have a great Spring like week, enjoy your Martini Smoothie and Cheers!

Peach Sour Martini - Peach Martini with a Pucker!

http://themartinidiva.com

Get my

The Peach Sour Martini is loosely based on a peach daiquiri cocktail . Daiquiris were really popular in the sixties and seventies and were almost always served "frozen". The term "frozen" in cocktail lingo means the ingredients are blended with ice until they reach the slushy level. If you want to know more about the "big sister" cocktail of my Peach Sour, here's some great history on the Daiquiri.

My sister, Patty, loved daiquiris and I remember getting to sip one when I was still a little kid. I thought it was pretty good - probably because I loved slushies, maybe known better today as slurpees. My sister also gave me my first taste of a Tom Collins so I shall always consider her to be the inspiration for The Martini Diva. Patty, I hope you're enjoying a nice cold daiquiri up there with the angels!

This Peach Sour Martini is a great way to use fresh peaches and it's a wonderful summery drink that refreshes on hot days. The addition of the sweet and sour keeps it from being too sweet and balances nicely with the fresh peach flavor. I made my own fresh peach juice too so I got a double whammy of that wonderful flavor.

Try it out the next time you take home some fresh peaches and serve it up with some appetizers from The Diva of Tiny Foods!

Enjoy and stay cool this week!

Missing Cherry-tini - A Cherry Coconut Orange Martini

As you know if you follow my martini blog here, I am very fond of Cherry flavored vodka. The other day I was experimenting with this cherry infused vodka again - yeah, dangerous. I'm like a mad chemist trying to bring designer martinis to life, lol.

I had just gotten some coconut milk for some of my tropical martini recipe concoctions (a few new ones will be popping up here soon) and I decided to try it out with the cherry vodka. I wasn't really too sure if it would be drinkable or end up going down the sink - cherry and coconut together didn't seem like a good mix but you can be surprised what goes well together and I was - The Missing Cherry-tini came out really good and I ended up having a couple of them. Okay, I had three, all right? What are you, my mother?

The name came from the last one. I dropped my very last Maraschino cherry and it rolled off into the void - I suspect Pixel grabbed it before I could - so I was missing my cherry garnish. So, as always, drink responsibly - especially if you value your cherries.

Kentucky Derby Martini - Bourbon Chocolate Martini with Pecans!

Tomorrow is the Kentucky Derby and to honor this event I have created The Kentucky Derby Martini. This recipe is based on the famous Kentucky Derby Pie - a chocolate pecan pie that is one of the best things I've ever had for dessert!

Here's the recipe for my
KENTUCKY DERBY PIE COCKTAIL
aka the
WINNER'S CIRCLE MARTINI

I took those flavors and translated them into a drinkable version for cocktail and race horse fans everywhere.

I know that the Mint Julep is more often associated with the Kentucky Derby (and I have several yummy Mint Julep recipes for those!) but for me the Kentucky Derby Pie was what stood out in my memories! So enjoy this drinkable version and enjoy the races tomorrow! Be sure to don your Derby Hats!

Let's all toast to the Running of the Roses at Churchill Downs.
