JIMMY BUFFETT MARTINI - Parrotheads Rejoice!

ODE TO JIMMY BUFFETT MARTINI

MORE PINA COLADA RECIPES HERE

I admit it, I am a Parrothead - I love Jimmy Buffett music. It's perfect tropical party music and needs a tropical party martini. A blue martini to match the beautiful tropical ocean and sky.

The Jimmy Buffett martini is a luscious concoction of passion fruit vodka, coconut rum, pineapple juice and papaya garnish that gets its Caribbean blue color from Blue Curacao. Blue Curacao just happens to be a citrus flavored liqueur from the island of Curacao in the Caribbean! Can't get more island than that!

It should go great with that Cheeseburger in Paradise!

TROPICAL WATERMELON MARTINI with Passionfruit!

Doing a little housekeeping! The recipe for my Tropical Watermelon Martini has moved!

TROPICAL WATERMELON MARTINI

Here's a martini that is unique and refreshing for cooling that summer heat - it uses both watermelon vodka and passion fruit vodka for a truly unusual and tropical taste. Try it out with some fresh watermelon juice or even passion fruit juice in place of the orange juice for a slightly different flavor. I cut up a watermelon this morning and the amount of juice in the bottom of the bowl was just enough for one martini.

Pineapple Orange Colada Martini - TROPICAL MARTINI #4

THE PINEAPPLE ORANGE COLADA MARTINI

This martini gives an orange twist to a Pina Colada with citrus vodka and a little fresh orange juice. I've often made smoothies with pineapple, coconut and orange so this is basically a spirited tropical smoothie which means you can leave out the vodka for a non-alcoholic martini!

The Pina Colada is the official drink of Puerto Rico - the home of fabulous rums - so I feel a little guilty not having any rum in it but I didn't happen to have any on hand when I shook this martini up. If you want you can use a rum instead and it will impart a slightly sweeter taste as rums are made with the by-products of sugarcane such as molasses.

If this doesn't put the Vitamin C in your cocktail nothing will - serve it up with some of my Taste of the Islands Nachos and pretend you're enjoying the late evening breeze of a tropical wind.

TROPICAL MARTINIS - The Caribbean Martini

CARIBBEAN MARTINI

Our tropical vacation week finds us still in the Caribbean with a slightly altered version of a Pina Colada. This one has rum and vodka but no coconut cream. The coconut flavor is supplied by the coconut rum.

If this doesn't remind you of white sandy beaches, gentle waves lapping at your toes and the sun warming your body as a breeze rustles your hair then it's time you took a real trip to the Caribbean.

PINEAPPLE MANGO SMOOTHIE MARTINI

The Pineapple Mango Smoothie Martini

It was hot and I thought a smoothie would be a great late day refresher but it was also nearing happy hour so I decided to make another martini smoothie! I had done before when I had some ripe fruits and leftover juices and it was quite successful.

I thought the coconut, pineapple and mango rums would be a perfect fit for the banana and pineapple flavors and I thought a bit of lime would lend a little tang plus I needed my creamy element. I always have frozen limeade and heavy cream around for one of my favorite cocktails, the Key Lime Pie Martini, so I was good to go.

I tossed the whole kit and kaboodle into a blender with some ice, then took a small taste and added the powdered sugar for a bit more sweetness. You can test your mixture and leave this out if you prefer.

This is also very easy to convert to a non-alcoholic martini recipe - just leave out the rums! Needless to say, like any smoothie recipe, you can toss in any fruits you happen to like - there aren't too many fruits that don't go well with rum. You can also switch out the rum for the same flavors of infused vodkas as martini smoothies are pretty forgiving as far as flavor mixtures are concerned.

Want to make it a healthy organic martini? Use organic fruits and juices, substitute honey or another natural sweetener for the sugar and replace the cream with a plain organic yogurt! There is also a trend for distilling organic liquors out there but more on that later.

To your health!
